Naarm/Melbourne songwriter/producer/engineer Fairie makes her debut on Provenance with Changes, an earnest self-produced lament over the excruciating nature of growing pains.
The song’s lyrics tell a story of acceptance of the ebbs and flows of life which is stirringly contradicted by Fairie (Lucy Li)’s heart rending vocals. Lucy says of the song “it represents being stuck in limbo, resisting change and deep questioning/despair about the overall human condition – it explores the reality of decay as an inevitable stage in the ephemeral cycle of life”.
Fairie is an active member of the local live music scene, and has been a member of Provenance Collective over the past year, as well as contributing to Layers & Nodes, a compilation of works from producers utilising AI in creative new ways.
